Flash Card Joy - Reading Activity

Laminated flashcards are a simple, old-school, and wonderful tool for getting your students engaged and learning, whether or not your classroom has a computer and projector. The fact that you can utilize them in so many different ways is perhaps the finest thing about them!

You've come to the right place if you believe flashcards are boring and you're seeking for some new activities to keep things interesting. Flashcards are quite versatile and may be used for a variety of purposes, as you shall see shortly. When it comes to this age group, if you're excited, they'll be too!

Content Standard:
3.1 Understand a variety of linear and non-linear print and digital texts by using appropriate reading strategies.

Learning Standard :
3.2.2 Understand specific information and details of simple texts of one or two paragraphs.
3.2.3 Guess the meaning of unfamiliar words from clues provided by titles and topics.

Instructions:

Arrange the chairs in a circle with the backs facing outwards. Tape a flashcard to the back of each chair or place one beneath each chair on the ground. Make a circle on the outside of the chairs with the pupils. There is no requirement for one fewer chair than the number of students at this age. Some groups will have more fun if the competition isn't as intense. Students should walk around the seats while listening to music. When the music is paused, the pupils look for a place to sit. On the chair, they pronounce the flashcard word. Make it more exciting by telling the students to jump, tiptoe, stroll, swim, etc. around the circle of chairs if they are familiar with motions and movements.
